VI Explore is an exclusive program tailored for international volunteers eager to make a significant impact while immersing themselves in the vibrant culture and stunning landscapes of Jamaica. This program blends meaningful volunteer work with unique opportunities to explore and experience the best of Jamaica.

 

How It Operates:

1. Program Duration:

  • Short-Term: 1-4 weeks
  • Long-Term: 1-6 months

2. Volunteer Opportunities: Participants can choose from various projects that suit their skills and interests, including:

  • Education: Assisting with after-school tutoring, teaching English, and organizing educational workshops.
  • Healthcare: Supporting health fairs, wellness clinics, and vision screenings as part of the 2000 Visions Project.
  • Community Development: Engaging in community clean-up drives, building and renovating community facilities, and participating in environmental conservation projects.
  • Youth Programs: Mentoring young people, organizing sports and recreation activities, and leading youth leadership workshops.

3. Cultural Immersion: To enrich the volunteer experience, the program includes:

  • Cultural Tours: Guided visits to historical sites, museums, and cultural landmarks.
  • Local Cuisine: Cooking classes and meals with local families to experience authentic Jamaican cuisine.
  • Recreational Activities: Excursions to beaches, waterfalls, and other natural attractions, along with participation in local festivals and events.

4. Accommodations: Volunteers will be housed in comfortable, secure and comfortable accommodations, providing a safe and supportive environment to rest and connect with fellow volunteers.

5. Orientation and Training: All volunteers will undergo an orientation session upon arrival, covering:

  • Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding local customs and traditions.
  • Safety Guidelines: Ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
  • Project Training: Specific skills and information relevant to their chosen volunteer project.

6. Support and Supervision: Volunteers will have access to continuous support from the Volunteers Inc. team, including:

  • Program Coordinators: On-site coordinators to assist with day-to-day needs and address any concerns.
  • Mentorship: Experienced volunteers and staff to guide and mentor new volunteers.
  • Emergency Assistance: 24/7 emergency support.

7. Fees and Fundraising: The program fee covers accommodation, orientation, training, and excursions. Volunteers are encouraged to fundraise or seek sponsorship to cover their costs. Discounts are available for long-term volunteers and groups.

8. Impact Measurement: Volunteers Inc. will track the impact of volunteer efforts through regular reports and feedback sessions, ensuring transparency and effectiveness of the projects.
